After the recent hacking of the wordpress download package, it seems it has been done again. I had just downloaded 2.1.2 from wordpress.org and once upgraded an install the index page was blank, I could access the admin area, but the main site would come up blank, not even categories would work. I opened up the index.php file and this is all that was shown
<?php
// Silence is golden.
?>
I wonder when Wordpress will beef up their security and avoid all of these hackings. Anyway, now to downgrade to an older version :S or try and get a working 2.1.2

2I got hacked last night and was able to fix it this morning with help from a friend. Looks like they put a picture on my site and took over the heading and descriptions on my wife’s. Very frustrating to say the least. I wish these hackers would put their hacking abilities to good use and not be so malicious.

3For the record, this is actually hte content you find withtin “wp-content/index.php” files from waaaaaay back.
It’s not a hack. It’s been there for a long time, put there by the creators of WordPress. If that’s the only thing you’re seeing when you view source, I’d suggest you check your server’s error logs to see what PHP errors you are receiving. Blank pages usually indicate a PHP error of some kind - but to see the error, you have to have error reporting turned on. (Headers already being sent, somethign like that.)
It’s not a hack. if you don’t believe me, download the old versions of WordPress and look for that file. it’s in every single one of them. (Just like the lyrics to “Daisy” at the end of the default theme’s stylesheet.)

4Soj, looks like you were facing the same problem as I did too. I reinstalled and upgraded the Whole thing (specifically, step-by-step) and it is solved now. Seemed like you has the site up fine now.

6Thank god i use fantastico to install or upgrade the wordpress files.
The only prob is it’s slow in updating it’s package. So when 2.1.2 was released due to a sudden security problem, i had to wait 7 days nervously before fantastico added the auto upgrade to 2.1.2 from my cPanel.

7It seems that they fixed this silently. No reports of 2.1.2 being hacked on the Wordpress site.
